Redwood City, CA – In a bold move, the development team for EA Sports’ highly anticipated NCAA Football ’25 has left the Florida State Seminoles out of the game. When learning this, we immediately flew to their headquarters in California to learn the reasons why.
“When deciding who would be in, or out in this case, of the game, we struggled to come to a solid conclusion,” said Rick Faban, the lead developer for the game. “We had to look at every program with the same, unbiased opinion as the one before. And when we looked at Florida State, we concluded that their situation made them a poor candidate for what many believe to be the new flagship of this company.”
Hearing this, we asked what situation they were referring to when it came to FSU’s status. “Listen,” said Mr. Faban, “It’s very clear that they are a good program. However, we put together a committee to ensure that our decisions were made fairly. In fact, it was the committee itself that made us leave them out. If you want to know their reasoning, you should ask them.”
Further prodding got us little information to justify this decision. We were allowed early access to view the game, still in the final stages of production, and happened to notice an unhealthy bias toward schools within the Southeastern Conference. One such bias was an overall team rating of 126 for the Alabama Crimson Tide, when, it should be noted, no other school could possibly be rated higher than a 99 overall. In fact, all SEC schools, with the exception of Vanderbilt’s 59, were given the overall 99 rating.
Other conferences, we should note, were relegated to 2004 graphic technology.
As the conversation began to run in circles, we were given a large bag full of money, a firm pat on the backside, and a wink as we were escorted to the airport.
